Yankee Candles - Littlewoods price error, they won't supply

Options
Thanks to a tip on here I ordered a number of large jar candles from Littlewoods at £8 each. Yesterday I even checked to make sure delivery was going forwards and saw my order scheduled for the 16th January. Last night however I received a phone call to say they had made a mistake with the price and could not go ahead with the order. As a goodwill gesture they allowed one candle to be bought at £8. Not happy...

Perhaps this would be a good time to learn about your consumer rights? The contract is *usually* formed upon despatch of the goods, not when the money is taken - have you confirmed when the contract is formed, the information will be in their t&c's?
  • When you try and cash in on a mis-price sometimes you get lucky, but don't expect to.

Thats why. Always better to order one in a misprice, its more likely to slip through or be honoured than people that order 'a number'.

Will you admit to how many did you order?
  • In response to the above request for info., I ordered 3 jars. How was I supposed to know it was a mis-price though?
It so happens that I was able to buy a couple of large jars for £9-ish at Beales in Lowestoft today, so Littlewoods selling at £8 was not an obvious error.

I agree that £8 was not an obvious error. I've seen Yankee Candles for around £10 in a couple of shops in the past few weeks, so £8 was not a huge leap from that...

I placed my order for 2 candles [one as a present, and one for me - as I've spent a fortune on Yankee products but have never actually had one of my own]. They have taken the money and the order on the website is still sitting there as normal.

Whilst out today, I heard my phone ring. I pulled it out of my bag and it had stopped. It couldn't have rung for more than 5 seconds! I've since checked and it was the number people are being called from, to alter the orders down to 1 candle. It was almost as if they didn't want me to answer it, as they let it ring for such a tiny amount of time. :(

At the moment, I am annoyed that they were so quick to take the money. But, I am more annoyed at the fact they seem to want to cancel the orders completely [which they've said they will do when they can't get through to you] by putting the phone down so quickly. It has been one long farce. The fact that today [over a week after I ordered] is the first contact they have tried to make with me regarding the matter is particularly distressing. 7 days to tell the customer there is a problem with the order is shocking!

Littlewoods have even had the cheek tonight to email me with a "thank you for ordering" message, asking me to review the products and stating that they hope I like them! That is a bit like rubbing salt into the wound, surely lol?!
