I need to change my life

We have bought a place that has given us nothing but trouble. It is too small and causing friction between my husband and I.
My mother is due to have an operation but have no date. That will need 8 weeks to look after her. We want to be nearby to help her recover. I also want to be strong enough to help her.
I am exhausted due to hassles we have had to deal with - refurbishing the home we are in and enduring other people's noise as well. Our neighbour is about to embark on a long term refurb, so won't get any peace in our home.
We want to finish off and sell our home when my mother has recovered.
My son has been going through personal issues as well but he does have a job and rented home, so his life is on track just now.
To cut a long story short, I feel the need to get a short term rental for myself to get a break from the noise, family issues and overcrowding.
I can stay with my son for a couple of days at a time but staying with family for more than a couple of days is never a good thing, especially when you are feeling stressed.
I have some money saved for a rental but have to watch how much I spend and spend wisely.
Advice needed to cope with this stressful time - many thanks.

I think you need a holiday.
You sound very tired, very upset and at the end of your tether.
Take a short break away - on your own - and take time out to regain your strength. It might give you a new perspective once rested, to face the challenges to come.0 -
I agree, but I am waiting for the date of my mum's operation. Sod's law will say she will need to go in just as I go away.
I posted on the rental thread about short term rentals which lets me stay local but get a break at the same time.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

I know this sounds daft, but maybe try a clear out? People are like hermit crabs I think and outgrow any home they have (or fill any home they have). Is there scope for de-cluttering or streamlining to feel less suffocated in the house?
I agree with desert rose though - you sound tired and fed up. Often this means things pee you off more and faster than usual. We often get stressed with those we love most too.
Do you have 'me time' or 'us time' with your OH to relax? You need to try fit some in if not before you feel so low you can't rest at all.
Before you rent, ask yourself if the extra money will cause more stress than remove. Could you use that money (or less) on a break instead? Also remember that January is worse for splits/stress cause we have been with out loved ones a lot more.
Hope things improve0 -
Could you go and stay with your mum for a while? You'd be on hand then if she is called in for her op at short notice, and it would also be a change of scene for you.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

If you can't get away, how about some pamper time? Find a local spa, book yourself in for the day, and get a facial. This always does the trick for me.Sealed Pot Challenge 2013 #1947 (open the pot on 28th November 2013!)
