Samsung Galaxy S3 - problem when scrolling...

Options
I've had a Samsung Galaxy S3 for a couple of weeks and have come across one particular issue which I'm finding quite annoying....

When I scroll through my email inbox (e.g. Gmail), instead of just recognising my touch as a scroll, it thinks I'm trying to open an email and so it opens whichever random email I happened to lightly touch when scrolling.... It's becoming quite annoying now as I'm often trying to scroll through my inbox in a hurry and it just keeps opening up emails....

This never used to happen on my two year old HTC Desire (which ny the way Ithink is better in many other aspects of navigation than the Samsung S3...just a shame that HTC battery life is so dire..).

Has anyone else had this problem?

Not heard of this problem before (have several friends who use their GS3's without issue). Sometimes having another finger or thumb touching the edge of the screen while holding the phone could cause a similar effect.
