Morning everyone, little one is due in three weeks and midwife has been advising me to buy Lansinoh nipple cream. I found it in Sainsburys last night with a 1/3 off :) It's normally quite expensive at a tenner a tube (I'm tight lol) but is now a more reasonable £6 odd! HTH

This is a godsend if you are breastfeeding. This is a good price. Also keep an eye on Amazon, I got a good deal there too when I was using it. I have now stopped feeding (wee one is 18 months!) and I use the left over if I have dry lips, works wonders!

Lansinoh is fantastic! But please don't buy it! Ask your midwife/GP for prescription as I did. :)

Unless you're in Scotland or Wales, how does that make a difference?

When you're pregnant, you get free prescriptions in England (and for a year following the birth). You also get free nhs dental treatment. Although, I have to say, I can't imagine my doctor prescribing lansinoh cream for me, pregnant or not.

Oh right. Totally disagree with getting things on prescription that can reasonably be purchased, personally.

I actually tend to agree. I was just explaining why someome might ask for it on prescription. I purchased several tubes of lansinoh cream whilst breastfeeding and it didn't occur to me to ask the doctor for a prescription. I chose to breastfeed and was using it primarily for my own comfort, rather than a medical reason. Ditto for gaviscon.

A bit harsh, when someone is only giving out information and trying to help. Some mums may not be able to afford expensive creams for themselves, and would rather lavish their money on feeding the family and caring for their baby. Surely it makes more sense to go to see a doctor about such things, than buy something over the counter, which may or may not work?
