Hi.
I am hoping somebody on here can help me. I can't download any of my email. Every time I click on the send/receive button I have to wait for ages whilst it says that it is downloading 20 emails. The progress bar moves along extremely slowly and finally reaches the end. The box then tells me that it is processing and after a couple of minutes the following message appears.
First time I have had this problem and everything was fine yesterday. Anybody got any ideas or suggestions?
Task 'xxxx xxxx - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Are you using Norton? If so, Click Norton personal firewall, click configure. On the networking tab click Trusted, add the Pop3 mail server address and the SMTP server address of your ISP.0

Hi. Thanks for your swift replies. No I don't use Norton.
If I Ping Virgin I get the following reply
4 Packets sent & 4 Received. 0 Lost0 -
Checked them and they are fine.0

Temporarily disable any firewall to see if that's the problem.
Disable any email scanning software.
Use webmail and check for dodgy emails or any with large attachments - delete them if necessary.0
