Self-catered accomodation.

Hope this query is OK here. Just want to know if anyone has any experience of using Unite accomodation and what they are like as landlords. I've been looking around online and it seems that not all of their buildings are belonging to /allocated to a University. Am I making sense here?

Hi, I'm currently in Unite accomodation at loughborough Univeristy and on the whole have found it really good and very reasonabley priced. We have had a few problems over the year - mainly boiler trouble - but they are usually pretty quick to get any problems sorted.
I'm guessing the standard would be pretty much the same across the country. I'm not totally sure but I think Unite own the accomodation here and it's affiliated to the university - you could probably find this information out form their website.
    Hope this helps
  • Im in Unite accomodaton in preston. Unite are good. If there is a problem they come and fix it. If you put in a noise complaint they fix it. Genrally they are fairly new builds so quite new and trendy. We even have a 24 hour reception. If a parcel comes they sign for it and let you know one has come. Saves u needing to be in all the time to collect stuff. We have a common room which is good for the football.

But the downpoints are. The new builds are pretty poory built and you can hear the people above you. The lads above me are annoying me this year with banging, music, and making genral noise. The washing machines are overpriced and rubbish. and the internet is a rip off and really slow. I am not sure if this is a general problem but it certainly one with both UNITE accomodation in preston. I know a few people who work for them and say the same

Every year they send out 2 or 3 questionaires so they are obviously keen on improving problems. The rooms are a good size and really well laid out.

I have lived here for 2 years and last year was a better and quiter flat but i just suppose its a luck of the draw.

Our accomodation isnt owned by the uni at all. However the uni have rented half of it out this year for 1st years. UNITE are normally a private accomodation company but they probably do affiliate with the uni if they request.
