I've tried various but my favourite has actually been the cheapest. Organix Hair Brazilian shampoo and conditioner. Available at Boots, £6.95 for 385ml I think but often on 3 for 2 so I bulk buy then.0

I would look out for a GROUPON offer as you would get it done for about £60 max
You do have to use the correct shampoo and conditioner afterwards.
Mine lasts about 6 months and have always gone for Groupon offers. Every time it worked just the same even though different manufacturers products used.
Please could Gardinia82 saya bit more about the Matrix treatment Opti Smooth treatment please. How does it differ from Keratin and what do you pay for it? Thanks
Hey money lover. I believe matrix is more like the Japanese straightening system. My hairdresser offered me either poker straight or 'some wave' but as I've always longed for poker straight hair, being a curly head, I went for the former. It involved having my hair washed in a clarifying shampoo, followed by the opti smooth plastered all over. She combs my hair with it on so it is dead straight and I have to sit as still as possible. I have to sit with this on for a while, and then it is washed off and she uses straightening irons. Following that, it is washed again, and voila - done. Takes around four hours in all.
I swear by it. I can't stress enough how unmanageable my hair was before, and how much hassle it was just getting it to do anything. Old ladies (and my mum :rotfl:) loved it curly but pretty much everyone else loves it straight. I get complimented on it all the time. I get the roots redone every five months or so now - it's permanent straightening so it grows out, not washes out. I use shampoo and conditioner for treated hair but I wasn't flogged any specialist products. I use oils to keep it in tip top condition. I have had no breakage, no fall out, nothing. My hair is in better condition than it ever has been, which is quite a feat as it is very long (longest hair my hairdresser has done the treatment on, apparently). I will get it cut into a funky style at some point, but I've been loving having long, hassle free hair in the meantime.
I paid around £200 for the first treatment all over, and I pay about £130 for the regrowth. This includes a trim. It's worth every single penny for me. Never thought I would be a woman who says she loves her hair but I can honestly say I am. Love Optismooth!Sealed Pot Challenge 2013 #1947 (open the pot on 28th November 2013!)

I started with Keratin on a groupon about 2 years ago-loved it! My hair is super curly nearly afro but red. I still have to blow dry but not vigourously and straighten -again much less and it all takes 1/2 the time -with better results. After 2x in salon I started using product bought from ebay seller is Vanesa eddy I think-something like QOD gold . It costs about a tenner every time and lasts at least 4 months-month 5 starts to get a bit more work to straighten and you know it needs done. Yiu really need someone else to paint it on and do the dtraightening to get a good job-a detailed person with patience will do.
I buy shampoo online in big 1 litre bottles -salt and sulphat e free Osmo Colour Mission Shampoo 1 Litre was £7.99 from Fragrance direct but did gte somehwere else last time as it was out of stock. Lasts ages. There is a matching conditioner as well.
Benefit of doing it yourself is the time it takes -really boring in the salon. I colour my hair every 4 months -inbetween -the straightening and when I straighten my hair 2 months after the colour it seems to revive the colour so all in all win win system.
I knocked out the salon version once by being dragged under surf in the sea when helping my DS so at home version handy if you swim or go on holiday as you could do it yourself if you were stuck.0 -

Keratin just won't do it for me, so I'm sticking to the Matrix.Sealed Pot Challenge 2013 #1947 (open the pot on 28th November 2013!)

I'm in Cornwall. Apparently my hairdresser has people travelling from all over the country for it, because not many salons seem to offer it compared to the keratin treatments, though it seems to be more popular in America.Sealed Pot Challenge 2013 #1947 (open the pot on 28th November 2013!)

Oh okay! No worries. I did consider getting the matrix to do at home but I am too scared I will mess it up!Sealed Pot Challenge 2013 #1947 (open the pot on 28th November 2013!)

Now you have got me interested in it ! I might be tempted to try it from ebay -bit more expensive than Keratin . Unless I can get a groupon first to try it out as thats really why I was happy doing the Keratin myself because I saw they just use a junior to do what is a pretty simple thing.0
