Laptop keyboard problem.

Made the newbie mistake of brushing the keyboard to clean out the crumbs and did it whilst on. Stupid, I know. Now the down/up arrows jump from top to botton and vice versa instantly instead os scrolling. I'm sure there is an easy way of solving this but don't know it.
Dell Inspiron 1501 on XP.

    run your fingers all over evey key,

    down arrow does the same as end, and up arrow the same as home?
