Old Dell laptop.

Options
Hi All,

I have an old Dell laptop which was recently fixed by a friend of mine. I have been thinking about selling it for a very long time fixed or not. I suppose the price goes higher for the fixed pc. This friend of mine is asking what I want for this laptop as he had to give his own to somebody else. My question is how much money should I ask for my pc? Any ideas please.

You don't give many details on age, model no or spec etc but a good guide will be to see what similar models go for on ebay. If you also do a seperate ebay search for something like 'faulty Dell xyz laptop' you'll get an idea of the difference between working or not. The difference could be as much as double, or more though
  • Many thanks flashg67...It's about 10 years old (functioned only for just about 4-5 yrs), model no PP07L, with XP home edition, Inspiron 1100. Does this help? I havent looked on Ebay though. t&j

Not a lot. £60-£70 at the tops really if fully working. Half that if not.

Are you saying it has sat around for 5-6 years not working?

Did you pay your friend to fix it? If not give it to him. Before he fixed it it would seem it was worth no more than a doorstop.

A machine that old will have a very limited life now anyway, and a lot of programmes that will work on it will be limited as well

I would say the laptop has great value as a gift to your friend. I would suggest it had almost no value when broken so in actual fact this gift will cost you nothing at all.
