Selling old car for Scrap?
I bought a KA 2000 about 6 months ago from a dealer and it's been falling apart since then. I spend about £130-300 a month on fixing things and paid £800 in the first place.
I want to sell it for scrap as I doubt I'd get much money on autotrader and would have to pay for their services. I've no idea where to start though. Are there any good scrap car services?

Most folks here will tell you to stick it on ebay starting at scrap value with an honest listing.
I've never done it myself but plenty of people here will tell you that you'll get more for it like that because "someone somewhere will want it".
FYI we also have a 2000 ka. Reliable engine and gearbox but everything else is a pita. Today while doing welding to ours the mechanic cut through an older bodged weld that someone had done and set the car alight lol.
Seriously, they're not the greatest of cars. Ours has been patched up time and time again and I think this may be its final year..0 -
Haha Glad to know its not just my little Penny that is slowly falling apart!
Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into ebay. How would I work out the scrap metal price? Would i need to speak to a garage about that?0 -
IMO I reckon you'd get more selling it. One of my parents friends scrapped an old Ibiza and I think he got around £200 for it.0

Last I heard scrap was about £130 a tonne but that was a while back and the ka isn't a big car. As scrap you'd probably be lucky to get £80 - £100.
Stick it on ebay for £100 with an honest listing and see what happens.0 -
Start it off on ebay at about £90. See what happens.
But if you have spent £100+ a month fixing things most of it must be new by now.
Cant be much left to replace.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I think you'll find it was falling apart 6 months after it rolled off the production line, well known for being rotboxes unfortunately.I bought a KA 2000 about 6 months ago from a dealer and it's been falling apart since then.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

Just the chassis, the shell, the shocks, the floor pans, the wings, the brake lines, the wishbones..
They are crap. Solid engines and gearboxes (apart from the speedo bit in the box) but everything else around them is utter rust waiting to happen.0 -
I was told rust is a good sign, It means i maybe able to afford to buy the car

But i have owned a lot of BL cars in the past. So i know all about rust

Lol thats one way of looking at it
Seriously though, the ka is a rust bucket. They really are awful for rust. I once had respect for Ford until discovering the lousy build quality and rust on wheels that they're capable of producing. I'm not so sure I'd want another ford at all now. The ka is pure rust with paint slapped on top if you ask me.0 -
As a man who has a fondness of Rovers, I can only add that I was amazed to find a Ka was built worse than my cars.

Serious rot boxes, get it on eBay for £100 start and be done with it.
I just spent £900 on an MG ZS diesel and compared to my mate's £1500 Ka it's worlds ahead.0
