in Phones & TV
I was with Sky and had the tv package with movies and a sky plus box.
we were with NTL (virgin) and had 4mb broadband connection and phone.
we were paying £37 to sky and £36 plus calls to virgin (averagr cost £47)
We spoke to both - and decided to stay with Virgin, i was offered a good deal:
10mb broadband
Xl phone (line rental, all calls and cheap international calls)
= £36 - so for a faster speed and calls over £10 month cheaper.
We also organised a small (only freeview equivalent) tv package, but with v+ box and additional box for upstairs - so have the on demand tv etc, for a total of £52.
Deal done, set and the date set for installation. Phoned today to see what time they are coming, for them to tell me Sorry, we don't have tv in your area....... No one told me, I organised the deal over 3 weeks ago. I have cancelled sky.
I am so angry and upset I cant believe what they have done. I managed to speak to a manager, who apologised, over and over, promised to investigate, muttered some deal and may get faster 20mb broadband, but promised to call back.
Still waiting, and fuming. We will have no tv soon.
I chose Virgin over sky, what a mess.
Help!
Any advice? What shall I Do? What shall I accept

Why will you have no TV soon?
You simply phone Sky and say yu no longer wish to cancel.
Plus even if you did cancel as the box is yours, you can keep it and use it for the 100+ free channels.
Virgin's phone service is dear anyway even with their International so called cheaper calls add-on are more expensive than you can get elsewhere, same as their calls to mobiles and add-on.
I'm surprised you can't get TV as you have broadband and the TV comes down the same co-ax as the broadband.
Whilst Cable broadband is very good, their phone service is the dearest going and their TV service isn't great especially compared to Sky Digital.
Cable TV often has outages and the UKTV channels for many many months had an ongoing issue. With satellite there hasn't been any issues with transmission, the only problems you get is during heavy rain if you have a poorly aligned dish. Cable doesn't need bad weather for their picture break-ups, pops and squeals.
I have Virgin TV (the old starter package) because it comes free with my 4mbit broadband which I get at a discount (had offer extended), but I certainly wouldn't pay for it - it's OK free.
I also have a Sky Digital box (which I used to subscribe to) and use that mainly, I use it for the 100+ TV channels and for the radio, I also use it to find out what is on as the Cable box us useless and slow, I only then use the cable box when I find something to watch and it's not no a free channel.
If you had a BT phone line you could get cheap international calls from 0.5p/min via Call 18185 where there is no monthly fee for, they also offer cheap calls to UK mobiles and calls to UK landline for 5p each (5p for the entire call). Also you could get for no additional monthly fee free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines via Primus Saver 2 - All this for £11 per month. Free Caller Display too, via BT Privacy as long as you make 2 calls per month via BT.
You could keep Sky TV, move phone to BT and get free evening and weekend calls from Sky (still use 18185 for others) and even have their free broadband.
You could have phone with BT, calls with Sky and 18185, Sky TV, but keep cable broadband. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
