  • what are your circumstances? are you buying or remortgaging? whats your property value? how much do you want to borrow and what are your earnings? do you have any debts? whats your credit rating like?

If you can answer those I will try to help you - intenet comparisions, whilst great for getting a general idea are exactly that, an idea, many of them do not go into enough detail about lending criteria and charges to ensure you get the right product

We gave up using moneyfacts at work as they always seem to be a couple months out of date. https://www.moneysupermarket.com seems to be better.

How do you mean? I normally ring up the mortgage company and just tell them I want to take out a mortgage.

Yes lots of sites give comparisons

some might be out of date
Some might want just to sell you details on to brokers willing to pay for leads
    some might really be brokers
some might no show all deals - especially the broker exclusives
some might not be able to correctly filter your circumstances/ lenders criteria

Read the articles on mortgages on this site http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/mortgages
for example site and details on how to find
a broker who might do the hard work for you

    also look at http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/products_explained/mortgages.html
    and http://www.fsa.gov.uk/tables
