Help choosing a new car
I currently drive a ten year old Nissan Almera 1.5. It has been a reliable (if sluggish
) car but the rust is going to kill it I think.
So...need to change it and I know very little about cars so would appreciate some help identifying possible models.
It needs to be much the same cubic capacity as the Nissan Almera but not necessarily the same shape. It will mainly be for local journeys with the odd long motorway journey so pref at least 1.3 engine and possibly more. I need reliability, fuel economy and air conditioning! I won't be buying new - probably 2 or 3 years old.
I don't care if it is not trendy (let's face it, my current car isn't). I don't like Skodas though as I had a bad experience with one in the past.
Ideas gratefully received!

Honda Jazz? They are meant to pretty roomy, great to drive and very reliable...0

Nissan Note. Cheaper than a Jazz and rides far better.

Whatever you heard about Skoda's... forget it. They're part of the VW Group now and are as good as a VW.
The Note is a good car, pretty spacious inside. I know it's said often, but a Golf is a very good car. Reliable, well built and holds it's value well come resale.
Not sure on the Note, but the Golf's 1.4 TSI engine is powerful yet pretty economical. Both are good cars however.

A Skoda is a VW/Audi or a Seat under the skin but more reliable. How times change.
There are too many cars to choose from your list of requirements.
Hundreds of models. Just goto your local car sales and see what you like the look of.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Except some of the brand new models they're churning out, a heck of a lot of problems with them and a lot of trips back to the dealership.
Look on owners forums, very shoddy build quality at the moment as VW are so focused on becoming the biggest car manufacturer they're letting things slip a bit.0 -
Put a list of cars in a hat and pull one out. It will work out just as well as any advice on this forum.I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.0
