My first post folks and i'm desperate.
Just today received our quarterly electricity bill from EDF, a whopping £345
We're on the 'Online V3' tariff. There are three different tariff rates on my bill, which i'm assuming is because there prices went up then my request for the 'fixed till 2008' tariff.
The units amassed on this bill total 3899.
There are only 2 of us living in a 2 bedroom semi in Central Scotland, can this be right?
When with my previous supplier (Scottish Gas) we were always in credit.

Unfortunately moving to the Fixed till 2008 tariff was the worst thing you could possibly have done. You are not now on Online V3. The last increase was July 2006.
I am on the V3.1 Online tariff - for me to have chosen the Fixed tariff would have cost me 46% more. Did you not compare the actual prices before asking to go on this tariff?
If you had stayed on Online v3, you would be paying the lowest prices of all suppliers. Perhaps you can phone up EDF and ask them very nicely if you can switch back to Online v3 as you did not realise it was very much more expensive?
By the way my last electricity bill for a 3 bedroom semi was £158 and I am a very high electricity user.0 -
According to my bill i am now on Online V3 @ 10.8p. Previously it was 13.35p and 12.25p
I have just dug out my previous bill from December 2006, This only shows my direct debit payments but no details of the electricity charges and amount used. I have a feeling this excessive bill may be a backlog because i wasn't paying enough direct debit each month. I shall phone in the morning and hopefully all will become clearer.0 -

I'm in Central Scotland so your electricity prices will be the same as mine. My unit prices are 10.8p for the first 225 units and then 6.88p thereafter. Total units for last bill were 2332.
You mention 10.8p. Are all units being charged at that?
Where does the Fixed to 2008 come in?I have just dug out my previous bill from December 2006, This only shows my direct debit payments but no details of the electricity charges and amount used. They wouldn't issue a high bill because you were not paying enough on DD - they would increase the DD.0 -
Only the most recent units have been charged at 10.8p, the earlier ones were dearer. Spoke to EDF this morning and i am definitely on the 10.8p tariff.
The bill for £345 is actually for a years worth electricity, since i joined them a year ago they have been taking my direct debit but haven't been billing me for my electricity.
I have to pay them £195 which comes from the £345 minus my direct debit payments.0
