Best place to sell games/DVDs?

My grandson has started selling his games to Cex but there is a new store (grainger games) in the area which usually matchs CEX cash price and beats it by £1. so trading in-store with Grainger games is the best method if you want to sell it fast. If you don't mind waiting for a certain buyer then ebay would be the best answer since they usually do free listing fees on weekends for new users.0

There is no one place that's best for selling games/DVDs. I used to do alright selling stuff on play.com but annoyingly that is no longer an option for private sellers.
With places like Music Magpie you have to send the items off and hope they arrive and that they agree they're in the condition you know they were in then wait to get paid. So personally I don't bother with them but it's worth checking their prices.
DVDs
For DVDs you'll be lucky to get 50p for most of them with places like cex. Ebay can be alright but you may find you do better selling in bundles, especially for DVDs that aren't worth more than £1 or so each due to postage costs.
Carboots are good. Around my way most single DVDs sell for £1-£2. Boxsets vary. However, you have to pay for a carboot regardless of !!!!s. If you're being charged £5+ (around my way the carboots are £8+) that means you need to sell at least 5 DVDs at £1 just to clear the cost. People expect things for nothing, although in my experience DVDs do alright. You can't guarantee having a good day though. Make sure you have plenty of other things to sell too.
Games
Always price check games. Game, Grainger Games and cex are the top places for game trade-ins and they all give their trade in prices online and they do offer price matches. You get more for instore credit than cash.
In some cases it actually works out better to trade in, even for cash, than to sell online.
Online you have ebay and Amazon. Always worth checking the prices on both and checking ebay sold/completed listings. If selling on either make sure you know the trade in price for cash, take fees and postage into consideration and price based on that. That way you know you're not getting less than if you were to trade in.
Trading in is the far easier option, sometimes you can get the same or more than selling online but sometimes it's far less. For older games sometimes online is the only option.0 -
Cex are not scammers, they are a genuine company with many shops around the UK. Their customer service may not be perfect but they state in the terms and conditions about what happens if the goods are not up to standard and so on. When you send items you agree to them terms and if you don't like them go elsewhere or go instore. Their terms are the same/similar to that of other companies who offer trade-ins via post.0
