Are Marbles right ??

Hi, this is my first post here after lurking for a while...

An interesting situation occured yesterday and I was hoping someone could help out. My partner, around 2 months ago, cleared her Marbles card and asked for the account to be closed. As far as we were aware it was, as her online access to it was blocked. She overlooked a continuous authority request by her ISP (her fault she admits) and yesterday got a new statement with an amount for this outstanding. My questions are...

1. If the account was closed, why didnt the request from the ISP bounce ?

2. She also raised the point of that if the ISP, or anyone, tried to claim an amount on the card in 12 months time, even if we asked for the card account to be closed would it go through ?. Marbles said yes, they would honour it and ask us for payment. Is this correct ?? If so, then anyone with a "closed" account could have this happen ? Marbles tried to quote some credit card act to her about it, but im not convinced.

Any help would be great ! Are Marbles taking the proverbial ??
