Had enough - thinking of pulling out

It's a long long long story but it seems that the 2 people at the bottom of the chain have failed to hand over their deposits. They are both cash buyers and have both been saying over the last 3 weeks that they would be handing in the money tomorrow then tomorrow never comes. The estate agent kept ringing me (on the verge of harassment) telling me i was inconsiderate as I said i would n=move out and sell chain free. I moved out 3 weeks ago.

I'm at the point now where I am fed up - the house has gone up in value but to be honest im not thinking about pulling out to resell at a higher price. I'm just thinking sod it, it's a nice house I may aswell stay in it.

I'm just letting of steam really but I'm sick of it. I sick of the EA attitude and i'm sick of the lies.

I'm just fed up.

If it is a nice house, and you can afford it, why not just live in it?

That's what i'm now thinking, we had originally sold as we were relocating but that's not happening now.

  • Do a private ad in the property section local rag, by-passing the EA. You'll also get noticed more as it would stand out from the crowd & avoid EA's fees. Also use a solicitor to deal with the legal stuff on your behalf.

Somewhat Similar in principle to selling a car,

    :money:

(The EA's wont have this, as this action threatens their livelihood. Await the responses by EA posters trying to shoot me down on this idea:rotfl: :rotfl: )

Thanks - I think the option will be to remortgage and stay put or see if the chain rebuilds itself.

I have - only to be met with
'if you pull out you still need to pay us the money'

We are currently arguing about this.

Keep arguing then my dear, you only pay them on completion. If completion doesn't happen then that's life. You're entitled to pull out, it's still your house.

As you're not relocating now, why not keep your house and save yourself lots of money and aggro? Granted you'll have a solicitors bill to pay but it won't be anywhere near what it will cost you when you get further down the line. Remember also that as house prices have increased where you are, you'll have to take out an even bigger mortgage to get whatever property you want.

I think I'd be pulling out as a matter of principle tbh, just to spite the agent for being so obsessive and manipulative liars ;)
