So many insurers- all bad reviews

Life is too short to be trawling all the best quotes building and contents after spending ages putting in all your details as it is but when you find a decent quote you are happy with, you can be sure when you look at customer reviews on various review sites they are bad.

So far I have found decent quotes from

LV
Aviva
Direct Line
AA
Quote Me Happy
Esure

But when I look up reviews they all have poor ratings. Is this a good gauge or do only unhappy customers leave reviews ?

Please help me decide as I am losing the will to live.

On the whole, happy, satisfied customers do not seek out websites to tell the world of their positive experiences.

    Bad comments, however...

Ive had LV for car insurance. They were quite helpful.

Have a look for defaqto home insurance ratings. It takes into account customer service response times i believe. So you can get rid of the 1 and 2 star companies that way. I use that site with a pinch of salt but can be a little helpful.

  • There is also secondary factors, people buy without looking into what they are buying and then complain when, for example, they dont get a courtesy car because they didnt buy that add on. Additionally there can be elements outside of the insurers control, so Third Party denies liability but its often "your" insurers that carry the blame for the fact the claim takes time to settle or that it ends up on a split basis.

Defaqto tend to be better for judging product quality, Which? tends to be better at judging customer service.

Service is always in part dependent on the luck of who you get through to. Whilst an organisation many have a culture of giving good (or bad) service you will inevitably have some variance if you find a bad or particularly good egg
