hello i sent my first letter to my local branch asking for my £395 charges +interest, making a total of £450ish, this was received on 20th April.

Just got a letter saying "Thank you for your letters dated on the 19.04.2007 I have forwarded this onto our Service Recovery Centre in Birmingham who will acknowledge your letter within 48 hours and send you a formal respose within five days."

Has anyone else got this letter, is it one of their tactics to put me off or something or taking me for a ride?

Sorry I don't see where they are "trying to put you off" or "take you for a ride"

You sent the letter to your local branch and they have responded quickly to tell you they are passing it to the department that will be dealing with your claim.

Should you then not get the response they say in the time scale they have given you, you would then have a complaint.
