Other drivers insurance co wanting to do the work

Hi all

Wondered if anyone has had this situation happen and can advise. I was involved in a minor prang yesterday, no one was hurt, except the bumper of my car and the front end of the other drivers.

She admitted liability to her insurance co, and before I had chance to call mine, her insurance co were calling me to offer to do the repairs and courtesy car themselves.

I'm curious (as I'm with direct line and they're not the best on repairs) whether to accept to this, do I have reduced rights in terms of standards of work, and do I ultimately have to tell my insurance company at all?

tell your insurance for information only
they have rang you to minimise costs to them instead of paying out for a credit hire car.
You would not have to pay any excess if you let the TP insurer do the work.

If the other party's insurer handles it, you avoid having to pay your excess and having to claim it back from the other side.

Notify your insurer that is what is happening.

The only disadvantage is you have no protection from the FOS if things go wrong but then every time you use a garage outside of insurance you have no FOS protection.

Most would agree that for non-injury it is best to deal directly with the Third Party Insurers
