There are lots of hotels down Collins Avenue. A strip approx. 5 miles long, running all the way down to south beach. You should be able to find one to suit you down there, just do a google search. We stayed in 'Castle Beach Resort', or 'Castillo del Mar' but it depends on what you are looking for. It was quite nice, has a very grand entrance, which is mentioned in 'The Rough Guide To Florida' not really sure of the facilities it had as we were out and about every day and only used it for getting our heads down!

Are you returning the next day to the UK from Miami? If so, then you probably just want the cheapest place you can get. They are all good by UK standards so you don't really have to worry. If you really want to push the boat out, then go for the 'Biltmore Hotel' very POSH! We ate in the restaurant last time we were there and it was fabulous!! Definitely worth the treat!! Would love to stay there some time, but not with our 3 kids!!

    Good luck! ;)

    hi satan666wayne,

im doing the same thing as you at the moment, looking up about hotels to stay in miami. i've been looking at trip advisor too which is really good with reviews of the hotels. there seem to be a few different types of hotels which could be described as 'the best', from reading some of the reviews on trip advisor and the lonely planet guide we got on miami some of the hotels are very chic and modern, bit celeb like with swanky bars and rooms with a minimalist feel...the Delano sounds like it is very 'in' with celeb types and models...also the shore club seems very swanky and smart. Some other hotelsw hich seem very very nice is the Loews in South Beach and also the Ritz Carlton, they seem a bit less modern/cool as the Delano & Shore club but if your a family with kids or a family with older children or a couple wanting a smart hotel without the minimalist celeb feel to it they sound good.

im going with my mum, dad & sis so we might stay at Loews coz we stayed at that hotel in los angeles and it was wonderful. i dont think we are bothered about staying in one of the glam chic, celeb type hotels...maybe if i went with a group of friends that would be fun (i doubt i would ever be able to afford that tho!!) but not with my family. :)

heres the web site for loews http://www.loewshotels.com/hotels/miamibeach/default.asp

and for the ritz carlton http://www.ritzcarlton.com/resorts/south_beach/default.html

someone mentioned the biltmore hotel, that looks amazing!! its not on the beach tho, so if u want to be near or right next to the beach then maybe dont go there. they do tours around the biltmore tho and i think a swimming pool there which is in a venetian style can be used by the public.

    good luck planning, Karfy xxxx

p.s i forgot to say about area...i dont know much really but lots of the really nice hotels seem to be on South Beach right on the ocean front. Or "SoBe" as South Beach is called in the guides. The biltmore hotel is in a district called Coral Gables which is a bit away from the coast but not far, it sounds like it is a very wealthy area whith lots of massive houses.

The Biltmore is away from the beach, but I would recomend a visit to it and also to Coral Gables.. it is a beautuful area well worth the trip to see how the other half live!!

    hey,

i just thought i'd post again as i've been doing a bit more research...we have narrowed it down to 4 hotels now!! i know thats still quite a lot hehe but anyway... they are Loews which i already sent u a link to. the Raleigh, the tides and the shore club. i know i said we probably werent gonna go to a swanky place but me and my sis were looking at some and they are about the same price as loews so why not?!

if u look on trip advisor at the hotels i'll give u the link to the tides... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34439-d111907-Reviews-The_Tides_Hotel-Miami_Beach_Florida.html

then u click on compare deals underneath, put in the dates u want to go and remember to click on travelocity if it isnt already highlighted and it will search through 4 different companies at the same time for a deal! travelocity seems to come up with the best fares...im also calling the hotels direct to compare prices with what travelocity comes up with & more often the travelocity quote is better.

hope planning is going well :) xxxxxxx

When you have narrowed down your hotel choices, have a look at https://www.Quikbook.com (sorry, don't know how to do links :o ) for pretty good prices and a very efficient service. We've used them a couple of times for hotels in the States. HTH.
