As of September this year, I should be starting a BSc Design and Technology (Secondary Ed) with Qualified Teaching Status at Bangor Uni. I have previously done a diploma in nursing at Bangor uni, but didn't finish but I completed two years. This diploma was NHS funded.
I'll be 30 in June, and am married with three children and a mortgage. one of which who will be for and starting school full time. And twin girls who will be going to nursery full time. Im currentl studing one module with the open university as well.
Im starting to get worried about whether or not ill get funding for the course. Ive asked on the student room forum and been told i wouldnt get anything whatsoever!!
Anyone here know anything????

I suggest that you contact the Student Loans company. I THINK that since you did not complete your diploma, and have not been supported by a student loan, you should be eligible for funding.0 -
Not quite true I'm afraid, although there's something bugging me about exemptions for QTS courses.
Will need to go through the regulations in the morning in a bit more detail. In the meantime, can you find the exact course on the university website and post a link up?0 -
Hi, Thankyou for your response.
Im not allowed to post links yet as Im a new user. But the course title is Design and Technology degree (Secondary Education) (BSc) with QTS (Qualified Teaching Status)
I have just emailed the school of nurisng that I attended to get exact information about the course title and funding type. Im almost positive it was wholly NHS funded.0 -
Just read this on the student finance wales website:
Support available to students who have previously undertaken higher education is limited. Generally, if a student already has an honours degree from a UK institution, they are ineligible for further support. Support will be available for the course length plus one additional year if required – less any previous years of higher education. However, living costs loans will continue to be available to students who do not already have an honours degree from a UK institution and to students who are on a course leading to a professional qualification in a number of fields including: medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, architecture and teaching.0 -
Hi
Just to let you know you will be able to take up student finance.
I undertook my first undergraduate course 1998-2002 and started another in Sept 2012 due to a huge career change.
Although the student loan website explains its limited if you agree to maintain the interest on any existing loans they will set you up with a second plan.
I have a standing order to student loan for £20 PCM which is more than required and yes I could do without paying it but it keeps them happy and I still get a full loan for this course.
To be honest it's easier to apply when you already have an account with them.
I suggest you contact them direct as they are really helpful0
