  • You could try getting some inside knowledge from here:

Parentscentre's education section might also be of use.

If you want it "straight from the horses mouth", go on the Times Ed website:

    www.tes.co.uk/staffroom

It's for teachers, but there are plenty of people who will be able to answer your questions from a professional point of view as opposed to government spin. ;)

If special needs are involved then IPSEA are brilliant ...

I don't know what your actual needs are, but having spent the last ten years fighting for my son's rights in this area, I'd make the following points:

    1) If special educational needs are involved - to any extent - seek professional help in the form of reports or diagnosis.
    2) Although it may be wrong, resources go to those that shout loudest. Don't be rude, but don't lie back and take what people say.
    3) Most people employed by a LEA, despite what they may say, are only interested in one thing - saving money.
    4) As Sue says, IPSEA are a great source of advice regarding your child's rights.

I could go on, but really the most important point is 1). If this appropriate to your child, you need to build a file of evidence as soon as possible. Good luck, and please feel free to send me a PM if you need any help.

Thanks this information is great in that you can talk to other teacher all about teaching your child....
