i am sick of seeing a person down my street selling pirate dvds on facebook. i have contacted trading standards and they are not interested, nor are they interested in any of the people selling fake designer goods. i have wrote to the local newspaer in the hope that something can be done.

Trading Standards often leave pirate traders selling so they can compile strong enough evidence against them, it isn't always the case that nothing is being done.

You can always contact the real companies to alert them that fake items are being sold in their name.

The items in the opening post have now been pulled.

  • glad its gone, I reported the original listing for breech of copyright, just a shame I don't have the time to report the rest of the other sellers and listings doing this. They need a report a seller for multiple listings option instead of report a listing.

What on earth do you think the local newspaper is going to do about it?!?!
  • Seems to be doing quite well, 4.9 for comms and despatch time, 4.8 for Item as described and Postage.

Surprised that eBay have not made them a "Top rated Seller" like this one:-

See previous threads about pirate sales on eBay....

It is always best to report direct to the ownwers of the copyright
A few years ago I came across a company that claimed to have found a loophole that allowed them to copy computer software.

You had to confirm to them that you owned the original discs, and they would send you a copy (or back up) of the software. If true I could I could lie about owning £400's worth of Adobe software, and the company would send me, for £2, a copy disc complete with serial number (in case I had lost mine)

I e-mailed both Adobe in America, and the British Copyright Council asking if this was legal.
Adobe replied within half and hour (it was the early hours of the morning in the USA) Saying they had checked out the company, and what they were doing was illegal, and they would take action, which they did within 24 hours, and the company ceased trading.

I am still waiting for the BCC to reply to my e-mail, which confirms to me that any organisation set up to prevent copyright theft is a waste of space, and you should deal direct with the copyright holder.
