According to the entitled to web site this is what people get after housing costs based on adults being 35
A single person gets £71 a week, a couple gets £111, if they have one kid they get £194 then another £64 for each additional kid.
Do you think a real terms cut across board is ans.
Only thing i would change is how benefits stack like this when children are involved, nobody should be paid for a choice they make.http://www.cpag.org.uk/child-poverty-facts-and-figures
Ignore the bigotry of the Colonel Blimp Daily Mail types working out their own anger and read the facts. Its shameful the way we treat people in this country. Common themes run throughout.... its about life chances/opportunities...education etc. No one is born a parasite....people become that way because of the world they are in! Reducing benefits for such people will only exacerbate the problem in the long term through further social strife. The children of such families suffer and often become tomorrows criminals placing further strain on public services.Only an idiot would believe that cutting the benefits for such people would be seen as an incentive to change. Take it from me as someone who works every day with such people they would not get that message; they would turn to other more dishonest ways to fund their lifestyle...usually by preying on other disadvantaged people.
I agree with you on this and i believe its all political point scoring deflecting from the most important issue of all LACK OF DECENT JOBS.When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -

That's why it doesn't change. The powers that be are terrified that if the underclass doesn't get what it feels entitled to then it will just come out and take it -- as per August 2011. In a sense some of the welfare given to some elements are effectively based on demanding money with menaces. How on earth did we get into this state ? The answer to that of course is socialism.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

I'm not sure why children are going hungry when a family of four gets almost £260 a week after housing costs can you explain.0 -
Does that mean (as a northerner) I can expect to pay less tax?0

If you earn less than a person doing a comparable job elsewhere, then other things being equal, you do. That's the thrust of the argument -- that private sector incomes, general prices and the cost of living vary by region, and therefore so should benefits and public sector pay in order to make everything as equal as possible in real terms. Makes sense.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

So how do people get to a job interview?
Or a disabled person get to the shops?
Or someone in ill health get to a hospital appointment?
I appreciate reading to the end of a post can test the self-control of some but I would have thought the fact that my post started with "Surely by your logic" meant it was clear enough for anyone to see that it wasn't my own opinion

It has been like that since 1789. The reason we still have a monarchy is because the British establishment have known just how far to push it.

The only real variable across regions is housing cost and that is varied across regions by means of regional LHA. For example if I buy off Tesco online or Amazon the don't charge me any less because I live in the North.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. That's the umpteenth time that has been said, but where's the evidence ?No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
