You would probably need to contact the owners of the space for permissiin. Id guess they would want to see proof of third party insurane and probably professional indemnity insurance as wellPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

for a public recreational ground would that be parish, county or district council ?
cheers0 -
I remember reading that some councils charge fitness instructors for running classes in public parks.
You may want to contact your local council to find out if they charge

Darn, I was hoping to avoid hire costs as I'm still a new company and cash strapped
Just rang district council and they advised I contact the local parish councils as they own recreational spaces.0 -

There was a thread here about a year ago on this topic. Council charged poster in that case for the use of their grounds as far as I can remember.0 -
Maintaining parks costs money, so do your bit and pay, it won't be expensive compared with premises!0

I'm willing to pay if I have to
But was hoping it would be free as it's a public space.0 -

But councils also have a remit for public health which costs a darn site more than mowing a lawn or two. I think if I were the local authority I would take a broader view and encourage this sort of thing to attract people to the parks and get physically active at the same time0 -

I agree! However I guess their problem is if they start allowing unlicensed commercial activities in the park, it will become harder to point to a policy when a hot dog guy turns up...it'll end up with disputes about where lines are drawn. Better for the taxpayer to point to a 'licensed activities only' and then charge a notional amount for this kind of license.
FWIW the Royal Parks will be harder work than the local council of some province.0
