Hi All,
I'm after some help- bit confused.
I am currently 18 weeks pregnant (due the begining of June), and work full time in a good job which I plan to return to after taking about 3 months maternity leave.
I earn around £24000 a year.
Hubby is a student. He gets grants of around £1500 a year as well as the fee loan and the bit of extra loan they give you and he works part time in the student union as a venue supervisor coming out with around £3000 a year. He will finish in July 2014 and then hopefully he'll get a good job as well.
We have no other income and we pay for a mortgage as well as all of our own utility bills etc. This is our first baby.
Can anyone tell me what I should be applying for and when? I'm sorry to sound clueless but the last time anyone on either side of the familly had to apply for any sort of benifit was when my baby sister was born and I believe it has changed quite a bit in 24 years.
Thanks!

After baby is born, Child benefit and childrens tax credit possibly, but your income may be slightly too high, however there will be a deduction from your income for maternity pay of £100/week for 39 weeks that can knock your gross pay down, so you may still get the basic element of £545 at least. Possibly a little more. Other people will know far more about it than me.0
