Hi all,
The small company I work for has been very quiet for months now. The directors have been trying to cover things up but everyone can see we're quiet obviously.
I've been told by someone I trust that they're getting rid of lots of the staff, she said they wouldn't tell her if I was one but I'm pretty sure I will be.
I was employed freelance here and then taken on officially over three months ago, so I'm technically over my probationary period although I've had no review with my manager.
I know the company know very little about employment laws so I'm just wondering where I stand? My holidays for the year start in jan, will I lose these aswell?
Thanks

With only three months service, unfortunately I think they can let you go pretty much whenever they want just by giving you your agreed notice - they don't need to give any reason, nor make you redundant. I'm not sure if you freelance time before hand makes a difference.
If you have any accrued holiday outstanding when you leave then you'll be entitled to either take it in your notice period or get payment in lieu - although if the new holiday year only started in january this will be minimal.
You accrue entitlement to holiday as you work throughout the year - so, tytpically, for example if you were entitled to 26 days a year (which I know is less than the legal minimum, but I'm just using for ease of calculation) then for every two weeks you work from 1st January you'll build up an entitlement to a half days worth of holiday.0 -
Ah ok I won't be taking lots of holiday then!
In the past they've given a months pay but asked people to leave and not pay notice.
Just a waiting game now for us all to find out what's going on.
Thanks for your advice :-)Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE0
