new build - signed off - enforcement

Hi,

my first post,

1) After planning permission is granted, the project built, is there such a thing as 'signing off' for the building - to say the council is happy you've built it how you should?

2) Can a new build development (flats), nearing completion, be occupied, or do the council have to 'sign off' the building before it can be occupied?

3) If there is such a thing as 'signing off' can a building/project be signed off while there is a 'enforcement investigation' going on?

Thks

Not for planning permission. The developer is trusted (in fact required) to build according the terms of the PP. It would be up to a resident or other person to report the developer for a suspected breach of PP. The planning authority would then investigate. Even if there has been a breach, if it's something that would have needed PP (and some breaches might not need PP), then the developer would be invited to apply for PP and might then get it. Very rare for a breach of PP to result in a building being pulled down - but possible - ask Sir Paul McCartney :rotfl:

Yes as no sign off for PP is required.

Still no sign off required, for PP ;)
