Hotmail - No longer auto refreshes Inbox

Hi all. Hope you are all OK.

This has been bugging me for a while. Until about 1 month ago, my hotmail used to auto refresh and show me if a new email had just landed in my inbox. It normally went from "Hotmail - @hotmail.com" to "Hotmail (1) - @hotmail.com". It no longer does this and it is annoying me something rotten. I don't like babysitting my inbox especially if I am doing other things!

I am currently using a Sony Vaio laptop and Internet Explorer 8.

Is there anything I can do change this back or is this how it now works? It still auto refreshes at work, so maybe my laptop is at fault?

Please can someone shed some advice on this......

Try it with another browser to see if that works. I use firefox and mine still shows the number in the tab as you've described. Do you also use IE8 at work? Perhaps a recent IE update has broken it?

Every now and then tab doesn't update, maybe for a 2 hour slot every couple of weeks at a guess, but it's never been a month long like you're experiencing.

Try a different browser (Google Chrome or Firefox). I know that hotmail has recently started rolling out it's new "outlook" branding - Have you upgraded to this recently, as that may have had some effect?
