Halifax now have 45 Quid cashback via Quidco..

Hi,
Found the cheapest quote I could for Building/Contents insurance via Halifax & applied online a week ago.
I now find they are offering 45 pound cashback via Quidco. My renewal date is not until 9th May so I decided to see if I could cancel policy & then renew via Quidco..
Halifax 'Customer Adviser' stated that I would not be able to cancel & then renew with them because I am now an existing policy holder.
Do I not have the right to cancel this policy & then take out a new one with the same provider..
