child benefit

Hi there my girl was born in august 2012 first child and we was getting the child benifit for her £20 odd per week,Anyway i have not known much about it until now but the goverment wants to stop it of people earning over a certain wage etc.
So what is that wage bracket then?

My years can vary with income depending on weeks, ours worked and if in full time employment for the whole year etc and if anytime off.

So last year or should i say year ending 2012 i had 53265 which about 11000+ came off that on tax.
This year to date and its only jan 2013 i notice i have made 36846 and it not april yet with tax being approx 6955 to come off that,if i make as much as year ending 2012 i dont know.

What i want to know if am i affected by these changes or will we still be paid this money as i hear that if you are still paid it the goverment will take this back off you later on as your going to be taxed on it??
So does this go by what you be earning from now or is this going by what you have earned over the years or will this go by what you have made to date and not include year ending 2012.

Im sure i seen on the news about many folk opted out of this so they did not have to pay this money back,im just confused about it all what will i get or need to pay or does it affect us in anyway,i hope someone on here with the knowledge about al this can help me,we only just started getting this a few months back and on what i believe its going to be taken off us again

Over £50,000 gross income in a tax year.

If you are earning over £50,000 then go and see a tax accountant who will help you reduce your gross income and help you fill in a self assessment tax return. A tax accountant might charge a couple hundred pounds but will show you ways to save much more than the fee so it's well worth it.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

you not really answered my other questions so it affect people earning 50,000 have a read through my post and how would this affect me,as you dont say for what year they go by,if i still get it or just less etc etc i read its 60,000 and over you get nothing.

The questions are do they keep giving you the same payments, reduce them from now on or look at what you have received and ask it back,im very confused.

I am also moving to australia so maybe a good thing as the uk sure if not getting an better i regards to benifits and taking money off us all

Have you not had a letter about it? It's been common knowledge for almost 9 months that high rate tax payers will lose it. But there are options. If you search in the forum search engine you will find loads of info via past questions raised about cb. Hope this helps. x
