I know it's not ideal but why don't you take your daughter to the course and say you can't afford the child care if expenses aren't reimbursed and you couldn't find anyone to look after your child for 2 weeks. If she become distractive, so be it. You are attending the course, for goodness sake! You couldn't have left your 6 years old alone at home. Good excuse? Basically, they are asking something unreasonable IMHO.

i couldnt take my daughter to the course as she is in school, year 1. the course was about an hour bus ride away, if traffic was good, and started at 9.30am and finished at 3pm. so it didnt fit in to school times and i couldnt afford child care if i wasnt being paid myself. i explained that mums may be able to help me a day here and there but not 5 days a week as their own children had activities and commitments etc that they would need to attend. once i said that she just said she found it highly doubtful that i couldnt managed it for 2 weeks and that i needed to broaden my horizons. but i can only work with what im given.

the trouble with courses are they are all near the job centre which is not near me really at all, its a half hour bus journey and that doesnt account for waiting for the bus or traffic.

im borderline of the essex boundary where i used to live and have a job centre 5 minutes away but ive been told i cannot change as its a different borough.

I was talking to an advisor off the record about a year ago when I was signing on, and he said there were a couple of people in the JCP who sound like your advisor. They used to be vile to people and suggest they apply for things that were ridiculous, and seemed to take pleasure in making people feel bad and would generally wind everyone up. I used to keep changing advisors, is it possible she'll be moved onto another section at some point? Signing on every day is ridiculous, they only do that if they truly think you're pulling a fast one.

i used google maps and had to do driving as it wouldnt show me mileage by transport - its 4.5 miles to the nearest job centre in my borough and 2.9 miles to my actual nearest job centre but it falls into epping forest borough so ive been told i cant use it as my address is waltham forest

that is what i thought, that they only used it if you were suspected of working or maybe been signing on for a long time - but i only started signing on in september. she told me she had changed over all people from september to daily signing on and the only reason she didnt change me yet is because i saw someone different before xmas - surely if it was a procedure then it would flag up on all systems no matter who i saw?
