Hi fellow MSE folks!
Got a question regarding my wifes log book registration on her vehicle.
We just recently got married and she now moved and lives with me, now its come to her car insurance renewal i have learnt that the insurance was under her fathers name and she was a named driver as well as the v5 / log book document was also under her fathers name as originally it was his car and he passed it down to my wife.
I just wanted to know how do i go about change the ownership for the v5 document, can i change the address, if we get the name changed would it make my wife effectively a new owner further depreciating the cars value?
Your thoughts are valued.
Many thanks

The Registered Keeper is not necessarily the owner and it states this on the front of the V5. It would add another registered keeper but I doubt that would make much difference if any to the price.
BTW, it sounds very much like she was committing insurance fraud known as "fronting" by having her father as the main driver when she was.
By law you have to notify a change of keeper so complete the details, get her to sign and her father and send it to DVLA.0 -
As mentioned a more important issue would be the insurance possibly would not pay out having the car in her fathers name yet she has the car at a different address and is the main user.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
