Before I went organic I used either Nostia tinned tomatoes from Lidl or ASDA passata. I'm still looking for good organic ones.0

I always buy Cirio (the best in UK supermarkets) or Napolina when on offer, recently I've been buying them as cheap as £1.89 for 4 tins. I've got 8 tins in the cupboard at the minute, I use these for things that you need high quality tomato base like tomato and basil sauce, bolognese or chilli. I then have value tins that I use for casseroles or slow cook things that don't matter so much, I generally add tomato puree, red wine or a bit of bisto powder mix to these to get the taste I want to the dish anyway so they don't need the expensive tomato. Sometimes I buy fresh tomatoes on offer, and slow roast them with garlic and a pinch of salt then blitz with olive oil to use with pasta now that beats any tin hands down! The Year Of DreamsBig Love To All Comp Sharers

I have been using passata for years, for a spag bol just add herbs, chilli, sugar and I like a bit of bbq sauce added to the mix. I find tinned toms to watery.
Tescos are doing bogof on tinned toms atm for 50p but sorry I can't remember which brand but not tescos own0 -
Usually use passata here as well. DD and I don't like the stalk bits that you can get in tin toms. However, I do occasionally buy Napolina ones when they're on offer, they're 50p a tin at Asda at the mo, although that didn't stop the lady next to me picking up a four-pack for £2.50 even though I told her it was cheaper to buy them separate :wall:0

Agree about using passata for pasta sauces but if you want tinned toms for breakfast I opened an Aldi tin last weekend which had 6 decent sized toms & thick tom sauce to go with it.0
