Music on USB

Options
I want to put music on a USB pen. I'm sure it would be easy enough to transfer the music from the computer to the USB pen, but I don't know how to get music onto my computer, from say music that's on a normal CD. Sorry its a dumb question but we all have to learn sometime :)

You need ripping software to take the music from CD and convert it to files on your PC, one file per track.

You need to decide what file format you want, too - mp3? FLAC? WAV? This will depend on what you want to do with the USB stick once the music is on there

    WAV?

That would be a criminal waste of space. ;)
  • @ Googler, I'll be playing the music in my car off the USB pen

MP3 will be your best bet - almost everything plays that.

What does the Audio Manual for the car, or the maker's instructions for the player, say are acceptable file formats? Probably mp3, but you should check first.

Looking at the front of the head unit usually suffices. :)

    This.

Put the CD into the computer and open Windows Media player. Rip the music. Transfer to USB device.

There are plenty of guides for this online (and probably in the windows media player help section too).
I love adventures. Unfortunately, I don't get to go on them nearly enough. My simple solution? - To indulge in the digital artefacts of the adventures of others. Feel free to indulge in them with me.
