v5c without supplement

Hi there,

My car needs tax soon so I need to get on and get myself as registered keeper. Trouble is the v5c I have doesn't have the supplement and also the dealer hasn't signed the declaration. Can I use this v5c to send or would I need to just get a new one and tax it with that.

Thanks

If you've got the little green slip from the second page, fill it in and use that to tax the car at the local post office then fill in the first page with your details, sign your part and post it off.
  • Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I have the slip. Just one two-sided page.

    Thanks

You can still tax at the post office, just fill in the new keeper details and they will send the V5C to DVLA for you.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
  • Oh right I read I couldn't tax my vehicle at all unless I was the registered owner.
  • To let everyone know, my suspicions were right I couldnt tax it this way

You have the 2 sided page? Which page do you have there are only 2 sheets if you split it.

Do you have upto section 8 or section 9 onwards?

    Hi,

There are some vehicles that have the old style V5, and a few that have the even older cardboard VE60.

There should be provision for registering the car in your name at the same time as you apply to tax it. If you do not tax it, for any reason, you MUST make a SORN declaration. Big fine if you don't.

If in doubt, contact your VRO for advice. Phoning DVLA will dump you into premium rate loop.

Also, once you get this sorted, if your insurance expires, you must surrender your tax disc, and declare SORN. Big fine if you don't, car can be siezed/crushed in some circumstances.
