my fiance was a soliciter so they appointed someone from there inheritance team to help me with everything she is dealing with them. she has just said the same really im a bit annoyed she could have mentioned this months ago0

I rung Zurich and spoke to the agent dealing with the claim and amazingly she was very helpful she couldn't go into to much details but said the only way they wouldn't payout was through illegal substances and they wouldn't use the fact she had been drinking on a work night out against the claim. she said the delay was to get more details from the coroner and not to worry about it. I don't know how much I can count on this but she seemed to know her stuff0

The response is consistent with what you would expect. They are playing it safe just in case.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm not so sure, I think they delays are unrelated to the cause of death. I would have thought possible avenues of voiding the claim have already been dealt with (and passed) and the delays are now simply admin and due to the policy not being held in trust.0 -
They may be waiting for grant of probate or letters of administration, depending on if the deceased left a will.the delays are now simply admin and due to the policy not being held in trust.I am a mortgage broker. Get whoever has appropriate authority to talk with the insurers to make a complaint about the delay. It is highly unlikely to be due to the cause and the outcome of the inquest but shouldn't be taking as Long as this unless there is an issue with the beneficiaries but they should explain what is causing the delay and what needs to be resolved. If they say it is due to outcome of inquest tell them you want their reinsurers opinion on the case as this is not standard industry practice unless something suspicious is occurring.
Presumably the accident was covered in local press etc so they would have all that.
Ps sorry for your loss.0 -
If not written in trust, or on a life of another basis, the plan does not have a beneficiary. The policy proceeds are due to the estate of the deceased and should not be paid until an appropriate grant of probate (will) or letters of administration (intestacy) have been supplied to the insurer.I am a mortgage broker. hello again and thank you for taking the time to respond I have been tearing my hair out with worry. My fianc!s father has probate and the letters of administration and the probate was passed to them in November there wont be any complication with relatives as he would be the only one they would pay out too.
The inquest is on the 18th jan and the soliciter dealing with this has said they should come back to me quite quickly after the inquest. The accident was covered heavily in northern Ireland where she is from even down to the local mayor commenting. After speaking to the lady at Zurich she seemed to think it would be fine she couldn't go into details but said not to worry about it I know she might have ben fobbing me off but I only really rung to ask the policy in the evnt of this sort of thing happening.
im wondering if its due to the fact the accident happened as she tried to walk around scaffolding in a street and was clipped by a car going about 15mph in heavy rain the hit her head on the road do you think the scaffolding being involved may be causing the delay?0
