Jeez someone is being a bit pedantic today. Wrong time of month for you or something.

A possible singer then, either way, what is being asked is about storage of music.

Try and keep to what the OP is asking.

The OP is looking for a solution, other than MD or Cd, for the replay of backing tracks behind their vocal or instrumental performance. taking all factors into account, such as reliability, road worthiness, etc, a solid-state recorder such as the Tascam I linked to is, without doubt, the best solution. It's not the only SSR available, may not be the cheapest, but since the OP has stated no budget......

Actually he asked how to get backing tracks onto an iPad and then out through a PA.

He already has a mixer, so all he needs is a lead to connect his iPad to the mixer - which is what I advised.

This is MSE so not advising buying more expensive stuff would seem to be the order of the day, no?

That was aimed at google, you just happened to post in between.

Yes it is MSE, which is why i said to buy £2000 worth of kit was a bit OTT. But using jack to jack is not the ideal way, much better to utilise the usb option and get the best use out of the mixer.

He/she is performing in public, so I suggest he/she looks at or invests in professional gear, not a half-baked, half-domestic, half-professional setup. One possibility from this search is the SSD recorder. It's not the only option. Yes, it's expensive, but quality doesn't come cheap. OP specifically expressed dissatisfaction with the current MD setup, so clearly wants to step up from that benchmark, not down.

i'd stick a capacitor in series too, just to get rid of any dc offset as it not good for the amp.
