So these sites actually work? I've always been pretty dubious about it since I dont have allot of spare time. How much time do you have to invest in order to earn what you have suggested?

    What are the tax implications?

All the sites I mentioned (at least the "good" ones) are the ones I use on a regular basis. How much you make will depend on your personal demographics and circumstances and how much time you have to invest (particularly Swagbucks).

I'm a home all day so as and when surveys become available I am normally free to do them which helps no end with my earnings. TBH, even of you only made a few pound of each of them every month you would still be quids in for only a few hours work.

There is a downside to survey sites. Some have dreadful customer service, sometimes you just don't get credit for completion, some take forever to credit your incentives but overall I enjoy doing them. The totals I put at the end of my survey list is what I actually make, obviously there are quiet times.

If your unsure you can always check through these forums to see what others are saying about the individual sites or visit survey police. Bare in mind what site is good for one member isn't for another. I registered with lots of other sites and began whittling out the ones I didn't like and stuck with those I do.

So, how do these work without getting spammed with snail mail from the sites? I really dont want to receive a sack full of junk mail a day. I had a look at a few and £10 a month is fine for me, but I almost always had to give my real name and address in order to receive the reward. I'm happy to give an opinion, but I value my privacy to some extent.

I can honestly say I've never had postal spam from any survey website

I only get email spam from signing up to spam offers on swagbucks ... so now I am cutting down on which offers I do.
  • Same. I've never received spam from any of the sites I mentioned. I would say that opening a separate email account to register with the sites is advisable, particularly Swagbucks. Although Swagbucks don't send out spam some of the offers on their site do, apart from that I've never had a problem with it.

Most times the "personal" questions they ask seem to be quite general such as first half of my postcode, how many people live in my household, income range, age range etc. I don't ever remember actually giving personal details as such. I think a lot of times they ask these questions not just to get a broad range of people but also to make sure there aren't inconsistencies in your answers.

The only site I ever suffered what I perceived to be invasive questions was Toluna and I closed out of the survey as I felt the questions were far too personal.

Most of the sites pay either high street vouchers (actual or online ones), Paypal or cheque so you don't needs to supply reams of personal info to get payment.

Thanks. It was just that at least two wanted my full address details and I was worried about sack fulls of stuff comming through the post. Generally, anything more than a few bills with my name on it is a security risk as far as I'm concerned because it becomes harder and harder to dispose of it properly.

I dont mind answering general questions, and who doesnt love a voucher for Amazon or two, but I was worried that the price was going to be too much.

I own my own domain so I have a separated account for this - it seemed sensible, but thanks for the clarification. I did consider using my middle name rather than my first name and slightly differing details from the true ones for more anonymity, but decided that if they made out a cheque, it would be in the wrong name.

Really? I've just done a bunch of surveys with Swagbucks and every single one says 'sorry, you dont qualify' or 'we have enough people in your demographic' and here's a single 'swagbuck' for your trouble! Its so frustrating. How on earth do you get anything? I barely get half way through and it just dumps me out and I've wasted my time.

I've been a member of GlobalTestMarket, Mysurvey and Pinecone for about 2 months. So far I've had vouchers for about £12 from Pinecone (they come in the mail about a week after the survey and I've only done 3 or 4 surveys). GlobalTestMarket I think I did about 30 surveys over the month to earn £30 (I redeemed the points for £30 into Paypal), and about £6 from mysurvey.

I'm wary of any site that offers a freebie but wants your mobile number because I've had unwanted telesales in the past when not checking the small print (or sometimes they don't even give small print!) but I'd recommend GlobalTestMarket, Mysurveypanel and Pinecone because it's not money for nothing, you have to be in the demographic they're looking for for the survey and it can be frustrating to get screened out when you've spent time filling out details but they aren't scams either.

At least not in my experience because I've done some work and earned a little bit of money. Probably less than £40 in a month, which doesn't sound like much but it does when you are totally poor and then suddenly remember that you have £30 or £40 in your paypal account to pay a bill or discovering that the Pinecone 'luncheon vouchers' can be spent in Asda or most supermarkets. If you're going through a time where you've got very little money for even the essentials, £10 of groceries or £30 to pay bills online can be a real help.At least it was in my experience anyway. :)
