Economy 7, hot water cylinder and underfloor heating
Comments

It has a hard coating, one set of thick wires going into the tank and no controller just an on and off switch.0
-
The switch is always in the on position and lights up when the economy 7 kicks in.0

Its approx 4ft high but cant measure round it as its tucked in the corner of the airing cupboard....its pretty big though.
I'm the only occupant in a one bed flat.
I dont use much hot water, a wash in the morning and wash breakfast dishes, when I get home from work, nearly cold water just when I need it hot!
My washing machine is cold water filled.
I know this may sound stupid but do you think the heating and hot water are connected and because the heating is on all day it uses the water from the tank...I really have no idea how any of it works.
I wouldn't have thought so. How many pipes going into the cylinder and how many out? You should only have a cold water feed (at bottom) and a hot water outlet (at top).:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I'm trying to puzzle out how E7 would work with underfloor heating-how can it?
Is just the immersion wired to the E7 circuit?
And where is all your hot water going to? What sort of lagging/jacket is there on the tank?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I can only see the hot water outlet at the top but obviously there is a cold water feed as well.
I'm assuming the underfloor heating works in a similar way to night storage heaters but cant say for certain.0 -
The cylinder is well lagged and I dont think the hot water is going anwhere its just going cold.0

Its usually an [very] oversize partL [core night] on E10 [it may have been switched by a previous tenant] not E7, it would always have a boost [day rate] element on the top and a controller to ensure they are not concurrent. The O/P said its a 'hard coat' which makes it an E10 / E7 candidate but I've never known any direct cylinder without a top 'boost' element and horstmman style controller ......... confusing to me too.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
