Hi all, is it just me that uses a shopping app at the supermarket?
I fill out my shopping list on my laptop then sync it to my Google Nexus 7 tablet which I stick on my shopping trolley at Asda (using a bicycle mount kit) and go to the aisles I have specified and find the stuff I want, modify any details and prices then when at the till I can see exactly how much it should cost and can instantly challenge any discrepancy.
I add everything I buy to my shopping list and only buy whats on the shopping list - this way I can keep track of my spending and what stuff costs each week.
I use the app "Out of Milk" which allows me to add stuff to new lists from old lists etc, I think it's brill - I think Asda's own app stinks, especially as it needs WIFI to work.
However my local ASDA have recently installed WIFI - but the damn thing does not work correctly, not even their own app works well in store let alone having the opportunity to compare prices with another store.
To even things out the local Tesco have crap WIFI too.
(So if anyone sees a chap in a red coat walking around Rawtenstall Asda with a tablet on his trolley either shopping or stood waiting for something playing games - say hi - lol)
What do you do? Do you use an app for shopping? (I take the paper backup with me in case of a technical failure.)
P.E. - yes this takes me more time but then I am not dong the weekly shop - only the weekend one getting ready for work next week etc.

That's the backup
It's OK, I'll wait - people will eventually use their phones for stuff like this.
Like browsing the web to compare prices when buying a TV etc. (I have been doing this for years.)0 -
Whats the point, you may as well just sit at home and order online.
There are some people who still like to use there brain when out an about.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Yep I constantly have to avoid folk standing in the middle of aisles peering at the shopping list on their phone, or play dodgem as they try to manouver their trolly single handedly.
Paper is easier and quicker as it doesn't go onto standby!0 -
My missus does the weekly shop online at Asda. More often than not (now) she uses the Asda app on the Nexus as it works better than the website.0

I trialled using a shopping list app on my iPhone, and on the new reminders app, but it's fiddly and pen and paper is far easier.
as for cheaper shopping, I log onto Asda's price guarentee every week and get a voucher for money off...0 -
Call me old-fashioned but I just seem to know what I need to buy.Can I help?0
