Wanted - a full garden for september
I am after some good old advise.
We are planning a September wedding - with a small reception at home.
I would love any tips on late summer flowering plants so I can start to get my garden beautiful for the day.
I mainly need to fill
1) a west facing rockery/herb garden - some established herbs and strawberries - but no colour
2) a west facing veggie patch (3x10ft) with tall yellow rose at the fence end (S)
3) a 20 foot south facing border. this has 2 fab huge fuchsias already and a hyacinth.
4) a 10ft south facing veggie patch border
5) 4 (or possibly more) hanging baskets
I have a large window ledge in my shed and a small plastic green house. Am rubbish with seedlings, but okish with 'plugs'
Mostly it is the later flowers I need. I do tend to plant small flowers in between my veggies. But any ideas greatly received.
ohh AND..... something that would grow over my front door arch by then.......
HUGE thanks
Anita

Annual flowers are brilliant for making a big impact and I have listed varieties that I use and know are very good performers. I start mine around the end of march.
prepare the ground by removing weeds and forking the soil loose and rake until a fine tilth.
with a stick mark out lines, or sweeps on the prepared area. plant each line/sweep with a different seed,
place taller varieties towards the back of the border and lower in front.
rake each section lightly after seed has been broadcasted and water with sprinkler. do not let seedlings dry out,

Hi
I'd put some low growing succulents into the rockery area, - I follow SESucculents on Twitter and although they are in USA, always get inspiration from their beautiful photos, such a wide range of coloursYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
