Is it worth switching?

Is it worth me switching providers for gas and electricity? If I do I save approx £14 a year but through quid I I can get £100 back. What's involved in switching or do they do it All for me?

The £100 from Quidco is consider a bonus (as they may not pay out) so don't rely on it.

£14 a year aren't very big savings considering the hassle factor.

What would the rate revert to after the introductory period has finished. Personally I'd go for the best variable rate supplier then go onto the best introductory fixed rate discount plan they have. This probably won't save you anything though so I'd stay where you are....unless you don't mind the hassle of switching every 12 months.

They don't do it all for you...you have to read your meters and give those readings to the energy company...and to get the direct debit right you need to be reading the meter at least every month otherwise your direct debit for next year will probably increase by much more than you are paying now.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • I recently switched to British Gas from Scottish Power and there wasn't really that much hassle.

You know you've switched over when you're asked for a new meter reading. My switch was all done and dusted in about three weeks - no hassle at all really.

I wouldn't have switched unless the savings were quite noticeable though.
    I am a moneysaver
