Can RBS Onling banking current account pay off a NON RBS credit card payment?

Have a current account with Rbs, set up for online banking

and a vanquis CC, and barclays CC.

I wish to pay £50 from my RBS current account to the Vanquis CC, and also £50 to the barclays CC.

Can this be done online, under the rbs online banking?

if so, how? what are the instructions for this? and how many days does it take for the funds to transfer to the cc?

where do i go to (on the online page)?

and Also, can it be done with santander onlinebanking? (which i also have a current account with, online banking)

All major banks let you make payments to credit cards through online banking. You just need to go to the section for making payment, it'll say something like "payments" or "make a payment". You then might be given a choice like "pay a bill/company" or "pay another person". If so then choose the bill option and your credit card company should be listed as a choice of recipient. If this isn't an option, then you will just need to enter all the payment details manually so you will need to know the sort code and account number where the credit card company receive their payments (this info might be on the back of a statement). You should always put your 16-digit credit card number as the payment reference.

How long the payment takes depends on both the sending and receiving bank. It is usually a few hours, it can be almost instant, or it can (if you are really unlucky) take 3 days.
  • Perhaps I am overly cautious but if setting up a payment manually I would test it by making a nominal payment eg £1. When you see the payment has been received by your CC you will know you have set it up correctly.

One digit incorrect when setting up could mean you are paying someone else's bills and can be a minefield to retrieve the money.
