Value things unavailable at Te**o

Hi!
Has anyone else noticed recently that Mr T value stuff is either unavailable to order or disappeared from the shelves? meaning we have to go for the more expensive stuff
Also, the price of most stuff I buy has gone up sharply and suddenly in the last month or so, so not only do I have to buy the next brand up but I have to pay more for it!:mad: especially as I paid for a six month delivery saver, meaning I have no choice but to be 'loyal' to them until it runs out :(
Anyone know what As*a quality and prices are like compared to Mr T? I will also be trying to use Lidl more to get some things that I know are cheaper than Mr T.

I shop in store and have noticed a lot of my favourite value things are seldom on the shelves, sometimes for weeks at a go. Very annoying!

I don't know about Asd@, we usually go to Sainsbugs as most of their basics items are adequate.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • I have noticed this with Sainsbugs too, I wasn't sure if it was just my local one which is not very good, but have been unable to get basics toothpaste, smoked salmon trimmings, and mini swiss rolls and I find there is usually no liquid cleaner, baby wipes or tea bags (all basics) It seems that they don't keep the value things stocked up, there's usually just an empty space where these things should be. I get them from Aldi instead.

I use a$d/@ and find them good, much the same as mr t's, not had any probs gettiing the 'value' range recently. Much of a muchness on price. With all the value stuff, some I like, some I don't.

I noticed this too in Mr M and Mr T near me, I'm hoping that as in previous years they'll being back more of the value lines now christmas is over.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Me too. I shop around as both shops are near to me (I use 'MySupermarket' to find best prices/offers). I find there is no difference between Asda and Tesco value things.

I would say at the moment, the things I buy from Asda as a whole, are usually either the same price as Tesco or a few pennies cheaper.

:) My Mr T has disappeared the Value peaches, they've been gone for about 2 weeks now and they've reshuffled the tinned fruit area to do away with the space they used to be in, so I'm guessing no more Value peaches.

I stocked up madly in the autumn and have a lot of them to be going on with. Other Mr T value stuff vanished last year, such as peanuts and the availability of other Value items is spotty.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Could be a seasonal thing as a lot of stuff 'vanish' to make room for all the tat that is sold at Christmas.
I have two Tesco's near to me the smaller one very often has few value ranges of stuff anyway as its only a 'metro' one, whereas the larger one about a mile away, the 'Extra' is about 10 times the size and does carry a lot more lines.I honestly think that because of the rise in food costs, and even fuel to deliver it, the days of cheap food is long gone now .

We will just have to adjust the stuff to a division of 'wants' or 'needs'
My shopping list now is usually for stuff that is needed as I have run out of it, as opposed to those days of willy-nilly wandering around the store chucking stuff in the trolley.
At the moment my kitchen store cupboards are stuffed full, and I am only buying what's really essential items and have cut back quite considerably on my shopping bill.

I have turned my 'make do and mend' ways to the kitchen cupboards, and will invent stuff from what I have in store rather than buying the usual odds and ends. I now only shop at the very least once a week, and sometimes can go 10 days before venturing near to the supermarket.

t helps to make my purse fatter and my waist thinner :):) Sorry Tesco's but I am hanging onto my cash for longer now.

I think some unavailability depends on what time you do your shopping. I shop at 8pm to get the yellow stickers, but then I find that some of my Value items are not there, they have sold out during the day. Unless a line has been discontinued altogether it may well appear again at some point in the future. When I do see what I need I buy several so that I don't run out.

I wanted porridge oats, there wasn't any, so I called in and picked them up as I was passing a few days later. I did not have to buy the next brand up, or the more expensive stuff, I chose to wait untill I could buy what I wanted. Nobody has to buy anything they don't want.

If you do not live near supermarkets there is probably no saving in popping in in a few days and if you have nothing at home as a suitable alternative you have to eat and feed your family!

While technically people do not ave to buy anything they see, they do have to feed themselves and family!
  • I think that value items will disappear this year, there is not enough profit for the supermarkups. This year is looking like it is going to push people harder than they have ever been pushed before.
So build your stores up while you still can, buy seeds from an organic source, not the hybrids in packets, that will not reseed. This company has been recommended on the SHTF board. In fact take a look at that board there are lots of great ideas and advice on there.
