Thatcham approved alarm fitter. Wigan area. Help

Hi, I'm looking to fit a thatcham approved alarm to my car. There is a garage near to where i live that can supply and fit a thatcham cat 1 viper alarm however when i mentioned the certificate that comes with the alarm from a qualified fitter that i know is meant to come with them for the insurance to accept it as thatcham he just laughed and said 'it's a bit of a grey area'. So obviously i don't want him to fit it when he can't supply the certificate.

My question - Does anyone know any shops in the Wigan area or anyone that is willing to travel to my home that are thatcham recognised installers?

Do you have a large garage for them to work in?

Or will they be fitting it on the drive/road with everyone watching where he places all the boxes?

  • Hmmm that's a good point actually. It would be on the road or on my parents long driveway, neither i suppose being ideal. Perhaps it would be better to take the car to them, if i could actually find someone close enough to take it to lol.
  • Had another search and have managed to find one close to where i live so will nip in when i get my car back and have a chat with them :)

if they fit it then if you really want the cert you can pay £50+ to have a thatcham approved fitter inspect and issue the cert.

that wont matter the main unit has a steel box and it attached to the car using security torx behind the dash this is common knowledge as is how to defete the immobilizer but non of that is possible to do when the alarms going off, especially if you have an internal sounder with more db then allowed
