GFX Card Recommendations.

Options
My gtx card has died and would like some help in choosing another. I don't want a seperate power supply so would like the best I can get that runs off the motherboard for my desktop.

Specs I can find on my desktop:

ACER ASPIRE E700-1E7I

INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600 @ 2.4GHz -2400Mhz 4 Cores

320GB SATA

2GB DDRII

DVD +/- RW, DOUBLE LAYER

RUNNING VISTA HOME PREMIUM

POWER SUPPLY DC OUTPUT 250W

PCI- EXPRESS.

The Gfx card that has died is a "Gforce 8300GS 128MB"

Any help would be great.

as you have already noted your biggest problem is going to be your power supply, now a quick google seems to indicate that the 8300gs has a power draw of around 40 watts, so ideally need somethign that draws less than that.

having a quick look the AMD 6450 seems to be a good bet, power draw of less than 30 watts at peak, and quite a bit more powerful than the 8300gs, also should only set you back around £30-35

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Thanks, is that about the best performing one I can get without separate power?
Went into pc world today and the bloke in there recommended this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008A1C2AM?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links is this about the same as the AMD.

the 6450 and the gt 610 are of simular graphical power (which is to say low but higher than the 8300gs)

the 610 is better in some games and the 6450 in others, i believe the 610 has a slight lead (in the amount of games its better at) over the 6450 ddr3 version but start to lose against the ddr5 version,

however my concern would be in the power draw, most places i can see suggest the gt 610 has a 300w power supply requirement, now this is usually a 'over requirement' by the graphics card manufacturer so that it doesn't make a system become unstable, so it could work on your system, although have just found one review that states the gt 610 has a draw of about 31 watts which indicates it should be fine as well

cant find them for specfic cards, but the information is usually about for the reference cards (ie the design that amd or nvidia has created) for example
