Kitchen Cabinet Lighting - Where on Earth are these bulbs??!!

I hope someone can clarify this one for me. I've just moved house and the new kitchen has those triangular brushed nikel lighting things under the cabinets. The bulbs are round and are inset into the triangular shaped thingy.

I have been everywhere but cannot seem to find replacement bulbs (half of mine are duff). I went to B & Q this morning and they sell the triangular lighting units with bulbs included, but not the spare bulbs. If these things are still sold, other people must still need the bulbs - but where are they sold??!

The bulbs description is; "Low voltage 20watt G4 halogen capsule bulb". Does anyone know where I can find these please? There are also a few of these bulbs (I think?!!) inset into my glass fronted cupboard. Also, is there a nack to getting them out, because they seem reluctant to budge!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Megan

Here's one but Google finds nearly 300 references to this bulb, just in the UK.

    Copy this into Google

  • Hi my desk lamp uses the same bulbs. I get mine from tesco or focus diy. As for getting them in and out, well just be gentle! ha ha.
They have 2 little pin ends dont they and you just have to line them up carefully.
    Hope that helps.

  • Thanks both for your swift replies. All that worries me is that the spot lights themselves don't look like you can take the glass out? It looks like a "normal" shape bulb should just pop out. I'll have another look when I go home tonight. I may also ask in B & Q if I can find someone serving who's aged over 12!!

Has anyone else got these sort of things in their kitchens?

we sell these things and have them in our showroom shout if you need more help, also the bulbs should not cost 2 each
  • Hi Ozskin,

Thanks for your post. I had another look at them this afternoon with my Dad's help and Kelly is right. The bulbs are indeed the little two pin ones, albeit hidden behind frosted glass. At least I feel I know what to look for now!! Will take a look in Tesco or ASDA.

What did annoy me though is that one of the glass covers was broken (obviously the last owner trying to get the duff bulb out but failing). Is there anywhere I can just buy the glass for one of these things?

Also, the wattage seems to vary. Some are 10 watts and some are 20 watts, any reason for this do you think?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

possibly wanted softer light in certain areas, more likely bought the wrong type of bulbs.
