Seed potatoes question?

Given an exceptionally early 1st Jan start like this, they won't be ready for outside until march.

What I want to know is why don't nurseries have seed potoes available for late Xmas cropping, they bring these out early August, just too late to get new pots for xmas:(

As they take 12 weeks to grow, early August is fine, but unless you grow them as they do cannabis plants, you will always end up with a small crop of baby potatoes grown for the novelty value and not yield.

Yeah, they are grown for novelty value, to new potts on Xmas day, BUT, I can't get them if they ain't in the shops in July.

This years crop planted Aug 10 = I shoot, + slug bite 1

Stick some dormant seed in the fridge now. wrap them in newspaper to stop them drying out and even if they shrivel a bit they will grow. Other than that if you hold back some chitted seed if you can keep them cool over the summer, they can be planted later on in the year.
